Every drop in the ocean counts. ~ Yoko Ono

Earlier this month, I wrote about girls around the world as part of the Girl Effect Blogging Campaign. It was so great to hear from so many of you through your comments, emails and on Twitter. The campaign ended with 550 posts from bloggers around the world!

Writing that post really tugged at my heart. There is so much going on in the world – and in our own backyards, too. A lot of times when I hear about things that are happening in our communities and around the world, I have a deep urge to want to do something. To make a difference in some way. But, sometimes the magnitude of the issue feels overwhelming, and I’m either not sure what I can do to help or time goes by and the thought of doing something slips away.

That feeling of overwhelm or just – Wow, this problem is so huge, can I really do anything to help? – isn’t a joke. That question runs through a lot of our minds and it can really keep us stuck in a place of not doing anything, because we’re not sure what impact our actions might have.

Deep down I really believe that every little bit counts, and I’m inspired when I consider the metaphor of how tiny drops of water make up the ocean. It’s so true. The ocean is massive, deep and so vast; yet, each drops of water contributes to its greatness and makes it what it is. Without all of those tiny drops collectively coming together, the ocean wouldn’t be the grand body of water that it is. Each drop really does makes a difference.

We have to think of ourselves as a drop – a drop that makes a difference. Every little contribution that we make will have an impact on creating change in the world. We just have to be willing to be a drop for change.

What does being a drop to create change mean to you? What can you do?

Why {Ponder This}?  When we reflect, we learn.  When we learn, we grow.  When we grow, we continuously come closer to who it is we are truly meant to be.
